“NetWeaving – Pay It Forward Week”
March 14-18, 2011

Q -    What is NetWeaving?
A
-     NetWeaving is a Golden Rule and “Pay It Forward” way to build
trusted relationships by either
connecting people with their Needs
in mind, or
providing them with information or resources – ‘no-strings-
attached’ - just because you genuinely believe that,
What goes around,
does come back around
.

Q -     What is “Pay It Forward” all about?
A -     “Pay It Forward” started with a book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde which became a movie.  It’s about a 7th grade school teacher who gives his class the same assignment every year – “Create something to change the world”. . . then “Put it into action”.  Trevor, one of the 7th graders goes to the blackboard and draws a diagram – one person does a favor for someone, and instead of paying that person back, the person helped has to ‘pay it forward’ and do favors for 3 other people; then those 3 do favors for 3 others, and so on.  It becomes an ‘exponential favor factory’.

Q -     How does Pay It Forward (PIF) differ from simple Random Acts of Kindness (RAK)?
A
-     In most cases, a RAK is ‘reciprocal’.  One person does a favor for someone, and that person in turn does a favor for someone else. On the other hand, PIF involves some 'multiplier' effect.  One person ‘connects’  or introduces 2 persons to each other, and then asks each of those two to ‘pay it forward’ and do the same for 2 others, and so on and so on.

Q -     What is a NetWeaving “HOSTING” Meeting?
A
-     A NetWeaver is a person who, when talking with someone, makes a habit of asking him or herself, “Who do I know who would benefit meeting this person?”   The most powerful form of introducing two people to each other involves the NetWeaver setting up and ‘hosting’ a meeting. . .spending a few minutes explaining what NetWeaving is all about as the reason for calling the meeting and then helping the two persons discover ways they might be able to help each other.  Sometime during or at the end of the meeting, the NetWeaver ‘host’ is usually thanked and is asked by one or both, how they can repay their host?   The response is simply to ‘pay it forward’ and EACH agree to host a meeting for 2 other people.

Q -     What is “NetWeaving – Pay It Forward Week” all about?
A -     The idea is to INSPIRE as many people as possible that week to
discover the joy of NetWeaving and Pay It Forward by hosting one
or more meetings to introduce two persons whom they believe would
benefit meeting each other – either with a business or personal
purpose in mind. . .and then asking each of them to agree to ‘pay it
forward’ and to do the same for two other persons. We believe that
this will have an ‘
exponential economic ripple effect’ helping both
restaurants, hotels, clubs, or any place where three (or more people
meet) as well as the literally thousands of potential business
connections which will be made – resulting in new or expanded
opportunities for all concerned.

Q -     What’s the Way to Handle the Restaurant Bill for a NetWeaving – PIF Hosting Meeting?
A -     It’s simply up to the group.  Normally, the host offers to pick it up  but in most cases, not only do the two “NetWeaverees” refuse to let him or her do that, but often those two choose to split the entire bill.  Whatever feels right is the correct way.

Q -     Why have we chosen to support this project?
A -     We like the cause of promoting both NetWeaving and Pay It Forward
especially teaching the concepts to kids.  From a more selfish view-point, we like the economic ripple effect these NetWeaving – Pay It Forward ‘hosting’ meetings will create to benefit businesses as well as restaurants like ours.
