Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement (JA) of Georgia's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.  By bringing real-world relevance into the classroom through positive adult role models from the business community, JA equips students with the skills and knowledge they will need to achieve their full potential.  Focusing on key concepts around work readiness, entrepreneurship and personal financial literacy, these experiences encourage confidence, shift attitudes, raise aspirations and motivate young people to achieve their personal, educational and career goals.

This past fall, JA of Georgia launched a three-year Growth Campaign to increase student outreach 50% by 2012 to serve a total of 160,000 students statewide.  Growth of this magnitude requires transformational changes to the way JA operates and delivers programs.  In order to achieve targeted growth goals, JA is proactively and innovatively addressing a number of key barriers and making sound investments to catalyze the organization's ability to grow.  Your support through NetWeaving - Pay It Forward Week will assist JA in achieving this goal.  To learn more please visit www.georgia.ja.org.

The Pay It Forward Foundation

"Pay It Forward" is based upon a book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde, but it's also an idea. Since January of 2000, a real-life social movement has emerged, not just in the U.S. but worldwide. What began as a work of fiction has already become much more. The Pay It Forward Foundation was established in September 2000 by author Catherine Ryan Hyde and others to educate and inspire students to realize that they can change the world, and provide them with opportunities to do so.  In addition to helping promote and encourage universal 'random acts of kindness', especially those having a multiplier effect, the Foundation funds qualifying 'mini-grants' submitted by school-age children who come up with projects which are consistent with the Pay It Forward mission.
